Welcome to the first official newsletter for the year.

This Sunday Feb 5th 2012 at 10:30am mass is the Commissioning Ceremony for our New Pastoral Associate – Deirdre Fennessy. Please join us in welcoming her to our parish.

LENTEN LITURGY MEETING
This meeting is being held on Tuesday 7th February in the SPJE Parish House @ 7.30pm.
If you would like to come and reflect on the readings of Lent and assist in planning how this special season is to be celebrated in our parish then please come along. All Welcome

2012 CATECHIST PROGRAM
Beginning on Thursday, 16th February 2012. Enrolments are now being taken. If you wish to enquire or enroll your child please ring Deirdre Fennessy at the Parish House on 9723 4275.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER “Let justice prevail”
This year the service has been prepared by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Malaysia.
There are two services being held in our area.
Friday 2nd March 2012 @ 10.00am
St Peter Julian Eymard is the host venue this year for the Mooroolbark area. Our own Fr Joseph will be the speaker.
As hosts we provide morning tea so could you please bring a plate to share.
For the Kilsyth area the host is St James & St Peters Anglican Church 686 Mt Dandenong Rd, Kilsyth (Next door to St Richard’s School)

MEDITATION ON THE BREATH OF THE SPIRIT & ADORATION For Healing & Good Health

The Symposium is being offered here at SPJE!

ADVENT PENITENTIAL SERVICE
Come along on Tuesday evening the 13th December at 7.30pm at SPJE church for a very special liturgy that invites us to reflect on our lives and God’s forgiving love. Our parish has a history of gathering together during Advent as a community to celebrate our God who calls us to restore broken relationships with ourselves and each other.

2012 Sacramental Preparation Program
St Peter Julian Eymard and St Richard Parish Church offers a Catechetical Program for primary aged children who have not received the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Classes take place every Thursday afternoon between 4.00 pm – 5.00 pm at St Peter Julian Eymard school beginning on Thursday, 16th February 2012. Enrolments are now being taken. If you wish to enquire or enrol your child please ring Veronica McLindon at the Parish House on 9723 4275.

Foodbank Cook Up
This Tuesday 22nd of November @ 9am at SPJE Parish Hall we are having our last Cook up for 2011. Thank you for the many donations of foodstuffs that have been given during the year. These and all monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Please come along to the cook up and join us for morning tea afterwards as we celebrate the end of the year together.

SVDP New Facility & Christmas
You may have noticed the new portable classroom in the Convent area. This is the new St. Vincent de Paul facility that will be used as a meeting room and storage facility for our food hampers. To those who have made extra donations towards furniture, power, heating, etc., we sincerely thank you for your kindness. We hope to be operating out of the facility in time for our Christmas Hampers.

Our Christmas tree with gift tags will be erected soon so please remember the needy at this time of year. There are tags for children’s presents or for money for food for the hampers. Thank you again for your help.

CHRISTMAS CD
Joe Fernandez our Parish Accountant has supplied the parish with a lovely Christmas CD. If you wish to purchase a CD the cost is $10. Each CD – $5.00 will be given to the parish as fundraising.

JOY CLUB NOTE FOR YOUR DIARY

We’ve made a booking at Club Kilsyth in Canterbury Road, for 12 noon.
Each person should bring a wrapped gift (or items) to the value of $10, we want this to be fun, so use your imagination.

ADVENT TWILIGHT RETREAT
Thursday 1st December 2011
THIS YEAR why not make some time to prepare for the coming of Christmas in the quiet and reflective grounds of the Park Orchards Parish Centre and Church. Once again we are offering an opportunity to come and join our community in an evening of prayer and contemplation. We begin with a meal followed by reflection and prayer, concluding with Mass.

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
This weekend (closest one to the Feasts of All Souls) will be the time when we remember all those who have passed away. Many of these names are recorded in our Book of Remembrance. If you would like a name recorded and haven’t submitted the name in previous years then please write the name clearly and pass onto Fr. Joseph or drop off at the Parish Office. Thank you.

WANTED – MINISTERS of the WORD & EUCHARIST

We are seeking to expand both these rosters. If you are already on these lists can you please confirm your choice of Mass times as either a Reader/Commentator or Minister of Eucharist. If you would like to be involved in these ministries please place your name on the notice board in the foyer of each church. There will be a training session on Tuesday 15th November @ SPJE Church 7.00pm.

MEETING AT THE WELL: DINNER CONVERSATION
Topic: “RECONCILIATION IS POSSIBLE AND CAN BRING TRANSFORMATION”

Tony Stafford, of the Australian Federal Police, will tell of his experience in the Solomon Islands in tracking and working with the murderers of six Anglican Brothers so that justice was achieved and the grace of forgiveness extended by their people.

The St Vincent Room
For many years past, your local SVDP Conference has been operating from a space under the convent.
Funding has been obtained from Central Council to purchase a second-hand office building, which, over the next few weeks, will be positioned in the space between the convent and the school. We will need further funds to provide services and furnishings for our building and any support would be most appreciated.
